Forgiveness Sunday 2021

On Sunday, March 14, we celebrated Forgiveness Sunday.

After Divine Liturgy and Vespers, which included a prayerful rite of forgiveness, adjusted to the health precautions needed in time of pandemic, we also needed to modify our traditional Blini party – you can see here pictures of our Blini party 2020!

It was too cold to gather even outdoors, so our efficient sisterhood organized a safe Blini takeout, with everything prepared in separate containers.

Enjoy these pictures taken by Sharon:

As you can see, our blini reflect our international backgrounds:
some real Russian blini,
some thicker ones closer to an Irish version,
and some French crepes – without the essential yeast that make traditional blini, oops!

Traditionally on this day, in lieu of sermon, we read the Nativity Epistles sent by our hierarchs. Please find here the text of those read today:

Father Jeremiah celebrated his last Divine Liturgy as our rector on December 27.
A heartfelt thank you, Father Jeremiah, for all your years of service as rector!
